Emilie Kikunaga, Director of Science CurriculumEmilie (Emi) is currently a junior at the Academy of Our Lady of Peace (OLP) with a strong passion for STEM, especially science, which grew during her freshman Biology class. Recently, Emi participated in both the Mechanical Engineering and NASA ASTRO workshops, and eagerly anticipates future opportunities. As a sophomore, she served as a peer tutor for freshman biology, assisting many students with personalized study materials and drop-in sessions, and plans to continue tutoring throughout the rest of her high school years. Additionally, Emi tutored a middle school student at Nazareth School in multiple subjects, particularly enjoying making science engaging and accessible. Over the summer, Emi was the youngest instructor at OLP’s STEM summer camp, where she taught science to nearly 200 girls, inspiring young learners through interactive, hands-on activities and fostering a supportive environment for young women in STEM. Outside of academics, Emi enjoys playing soccer, watching K-dramas, and spending time with friends and family.
