On May 23, the All Girls STEM society hosted our 10th annual All-Girls-Math-Tournament (AGMT)! For some girls this was their first time heading to an AGSS event, but for some, it was one of many they had already attended. Despite this, all girls were excited to be here and share their love for math together. One participant said “I’ve never been to an event like this, but I’m excited to learn about Math!”
All participants were divided into different age groups. Participants grades 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8 were split into separate division groups. The tournament itself was divided into 3 rounds. The first round, an individual sprint round, had 30 problems with 40 minutes to solve them. Participants needed to focus on their speed during this round. The second round, a Target round, focused on participants solving 4 pairs of problems, with 6 minutes for each set. After a snack break of yummy milk and cookies, the participants grouped together by age group and competed in the team round together. Thank you all for coming and we hope to see you next year!
