New State, New Mission, Same Organization.
Background
When Hampton Roads Chapter President and original Co - Founder Eleni Fafoutis moved to Virginia, the prospects of restarting and re - founding the All Girls STEM Society in Hampton Roads seemed slim. Having no connections, few friends, and an entirely new environment to contend with, the journey was difficult but AGSS eventually found more success in 2017. Through partnership with Horizons Hampton Roads, another nonprofit, and together with new friends and peers, The All Girls STEM Society was able to be revitalized and blossom into a new organization with an emphasis on service alongside that of encouraging young women to pursue STEM. |
A Philosophy of Service
The All Girls STEM Society in Hampton Roads now places a primary focus in supporting underprivileged students in STEM, working with underserved students from both Norfolk and Virginia Beach to encourage students to the best of our ability. With a newfound team of volunteers who are equally as passionate about STEM as their California counterparts, The All Girls STEM Society is slowly but surely regaining traction in a new state and is looking forward to a bright future of continuing to serve those in need and to help ignite the passion for science in girls and boys everywhere. |
