Meet your University of Virginia Executive Board.

President and Co-Founder: Eleni Fafoutis

Eleni is a Human Biology Major at the University of Virginia. After founding AGSS with Veronica Tang in California, she had to relocated to Virginia in 2015, where she re-founded the All Girls STEM Society in Hampton Roads, with a new mission of encouraging both women and minorities underrepresented in STEM to pursue their passions in the sciences. After partnerships with the likes of Horizons Hampton Roads and Suffolk Public Libraries, Eleni decided that AGSS could help serve the Charlottesville community as well, and reached out to a talented team of individuals at UVA. AGSS UVA hopes to attain full CIO status within the next year and begin operations at the University of Virginia for many years to come.

Eleni is currently on a pre-medical track. In her free time, she enjoys playing guitar, listening to country music, playing video games, watching her favorite TV show Lucifer, and spending time with friends.

Vice President: Priyanka Saraf

Name: Priyanka Saraf

Major/Minor: 3rd year, B.A. Cognitive Science with Cognitive Psychology concentration, Sociology Minor

Hometown: Fairfax, VA

My passion for STEM was fueled by my fascination of how everything in science fits so perfectly together, and that there is always a reason why things work the way they do. When I was younger, I loved doing math problems because it was like solving a puzzle and getting to the correct answer was rewarding. When I started taking science classes I was fascinated by how everything in the body fits together so perfectly, which is why I am passionate about pursuing a medical career to continue to study this intricate system. I appreciate the endless opportunities STEM provides for exploring curiosities and making a difference.

My hope for this organization is to create an equal opportunity for underrepresented groups in STEM to explore their interests in different fields of science in an interactive way. I hope to spark passion for STEM and demonstrate the endless possibilities that these fields have to offer. I hope to create a space for learning and growth.

Hobbies: I enjoy crocheting, dance, and music

Vice President: Lauren Turse

Lauren, from Hainesport, New Jersey, is a second year at UVA majoring in Chemistry with an ACS certification. Lauren did not realize her passion for STEM until high school, when she took classes at her local community college and received an associates degree in Biology. She hopes to graduate a year early and enroll in a Masters program for Chemistry, then apply to medical school.

Treasurer: Anahita Golchin

My name is Anahita Golchin and Im a 3rd year Biology major. I’m from Melbourne Fl and my goal to to go to medical school and become an endocrinologist. I got into STEM because I enjoy being challenged by these subjects and have a great interest in biological/chemical sciences. My hobbies include exercising, and drawing/painting.

CIO Coordinator: Sayli Satpute

My name is Sayli and I am a second year student from Westchester, NY planning to major in biology with a minor in bioethics! I got into STEM because I wanted to explore a hands-on way to learn more about the world around me that went beyond just what I learned in school. This led me toward the path of cell and disease research, which became a totally unexpected passion, but I genuinely couldn't be happier. I hope to get younger girls interested in any STEM field and help them realize that it is not as daunting as it seems; I want them to know that they have a network of people who were in the same position as them not too long ago. In my free time, I like to work on creative outlets like painting, journaling, and making Spotify playlists for my every mood.

Marketing/Social Media Co-Chair: Ria Sardesai

Hi everyone! My name is Ria Sardesai and I am a Biology major with a minor in Bioethics. I am originally from Chicago IL, but I have also lived in Maryland, India, and now I am in NoVA (Ashburn). I got into STEM because I was always interested in the way the world works, and when I started learning chemistry and biology in middle school, I absolutely fell in love with the ways in which biomolecules interact in life. I am a pre-med student and hope to one day be a cardiologist! Other than that, I love music, memes, and movies so don't be afraid to come and talk to me about any of these things. I also love poetry and creative writing, and I love trying to make STEM another kind of creative outlet for myself and others. I'm excited to meet you guys, and work with you in AGSS!

Marketing/Social Media Co-Chair: Izzy McReynolds

Hey! My name is Izabelle McReynolds or "Izzy" and I’m a current 2nd-year Computer Science major in the College of Arts & Sciences from the NOVA area. I hope to work and join internships with government organizations for cybersecurity and data science. I’m Japanese-American, and I absolutely love all things anime/manga, food & animals! It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance. (:

Math/Physics Curriculum Head: Teah Snively

Teah Snively is a current student at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. Teah first developed an interest in STEM in elementary school when she first learned about black holes and special relativity. After taking a robotics class in seventh grade, her love for math began to grow. Teah aims to teach young students how to love mathematics as much as she does. She also hopes to show students that mathematics is the foundation of the sciences and technologies that we know today, rather than a homework assignment to dread. This sentiment comes from Teah’s own experiences in high school math, where she had some of the lowest test scores in her class freshman year. After years of discouragement from friends, Teah rediscovered her love of math when she began taking calculus in her junior year, and realized that she had both a natural talent and determination to learn the subject. Beginning in 2020, Teah began working as a lab assistant at UVA’s High Energy Physics Laboratory. Teah is a second place winner at the 2017 American Protege International Music Talent Competition (piano), as well as a two-time winner of the Rappahannock Music Society Instrumental Scholarship Competition (flute). Teah spends her free time reading fantasy novels, cooking, playing video games, and reading about math. Teah aims to go to graduate school at UVA for math, and one day work as a professor.

Science Curriculum Head: Shruthi Muralidaran

Hello! My name is Shruthi Muralidaran. I’m a second year at the University of Virginia and I’m hoping to major in Human Biology and minor in French. I’m from NOVA (Alexandria to be exact) and I got into the STEM field at a young age because of my desire to become a doctor. However, as I took more science and math classes I came to appreciate the subjects more on their own, independently of my passion for medicine. Outside of learning STEM topics, I also love to cook, do artistic projects such as painting and sewing, and learn languages.

Technology Curriculum Head: Annie Son

Hey! My name is Annie and I am a third year at UVA majoring in biology and minoring in psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences. I always found STEM more interesting compared to history and english but didn't realize I was interested in the field of medicine until I took a human anatomy class in high school. Although I have already found my passion in medicine, I hope to get younger generations passionate in any field of STEM. In my free time I enjoy sleeping, eating, and doing art while listening to music!! So excited to meet all of you!
