Friday, July 7 - Aerospace Workshop (Horizons Hampton Roads)
The All Girls STEM Society is pleased to partner with Horizons Hampton Roads on July 6, 2017 and July 7, 2017 for a special rocketry workshop and presentation as part of the Hidden Figures program for Horizons Students. Horizons Hampton Roads is dedicated to encouraging students from underserved areas of Southern Virginia to continue pursuing academic interests throughout the summer, and preventing 'summer slide', or a regression in academics during the summertime, leaving many students behind during the next school year.

The All Girls STEM Society is proud to partner with Horizons Hampton Roads to host a workshop for undeserved students in the Hampton Roads area. This will be a part of the Horizons Hampton Roads educational initiative and the special hidden figures presentation given to Horizons students. Almost 90 students are expected to attendend.

Come join us for an afternoon of fun and learning at our first ever Virginia event, the Aerospace Workshop! Build, fly, and keep your own paper rocket. You will learn terms and concepts such as drag, lift, and thrust, which are actively used in the aerospace industry today, Snacks will be provided and there will be prizes for all!

Study basic physics as well as real aerospace terminology and concepts used in the industry today. Learn about engineering principles such as lift, drag, and thrust by launching your own paper rocket and building a shock absorbing system!

Spring into STEAM With the San Diego Public Libraries - Mathematical Origami (w/ Paper Insects!)
March 11 @ San Carlos Library, March 18 @ Ocean Beach Library, March 25 @ North University Library, May 13 @ University Heights Library
In this hands-on, interactive workshop, students from grades 3-8 will develop an intuitive understanding of 3D shapes and explore the finer details of spatial geometry. Through creative work with paper (and paper insects!), participants can develop their understanding of math and geometry and work with peers in a fun, supportive environment.
This event is open to all genders.

All Girls STEM Society and Math for Service are proud to present the 3rd annual All Girls Math Tournament @ San Diego!
Look forward to a fun math tournament where girls will have the chance to compete individually and in groups. There will be a chance to win medals and cool prizes. Look forward to cookies, a Disney themed team round, and a lots of other cool math!

Join All Girls STEM Society for another fun day of math! Learn math fundamentals, such as decimals, percentages, fractions, word problems, order of operations, and basic variables, then practice creative mathematical thinking with math competition problems on these topics. Also, work together to solve problems in the final team relay and win cool prizes!
This specific workshop is for girls in Grades 3- 5.

Participants get to explore the geometry of regular polygons and further develop their understanding of these shapes through origami. Girls from grades 3-5 will learn about geometric principles using various regular polyhedrons as well as other shapes in a fun learning environment with cool prizes.
